Vascular surgery is the branch of medicine that deals with diseases and lesions of the blood vessels and their treatment. This specialised branch of surgery treats abnormal functioning of veins and arteries and the resulting pathologies surgically.
Sclerotherapy is a type of vein treatment in which a vascular surgeon uses a thin needle to inject a sclerosing agent into the vein , which causes the treated veins to shrink and absorb into the body over time. The therapy causes blood to flow through healthy veins, eliminating varicose vein symptoms. Sclerotherapy treatment can even be used to treat smaller varicose veins and broom veins, which are less than 1mm thick !
