The rapid antigen test is used to detect Covid- 19, also known as coronavirus disease. There are two ways to detect viral respiratory or respiratory disease. One method is to test the body's response to infection and the other is to detect the presence of the virus. The latter can be performed with the rapid antigen test, a diagnostic method based on direct detection of the virus. This test method detects the protein components of the virus using a specific antibody. This can be done under laboratory conditions or by a single-use rapid test. In either case, in addition to the reliability and effectiveness of the test, it is important to note that it can be performed quickly and is relatively painless.
How is sampling done?
During the rapid antigen test, a sample is taken from the mucous membranes of the nose or throat. A thin sampling rod is inserted through the nostril to collect the surface epithelial cells of the nasal mucosa. The procedure can also be done on the mucous membrane of the throat. The sample taken can be used to detect the presence of viral antigen - a protein characteristic of the virus - and thus confirm the actual presence of infection.
In which cases is it recommended to take the test?
Upper respiratory symptoms
After contact with an infected person
Confirmation of a cured condition
No-risk encounter with elderly relatives or acquaintances
