Neurology is a medical specialty that deals with organ disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system consists of the brain and the spinal cord, while the peripheral nervous system refers to the nerve fibers responsible for sensory, motor, and vegetative functions that surround our body.
The task of a neurologist is to examine the brain, spinal cord, and the surrounding nerves and their associated neuromuscular transitions, to identify any abnormalities and to treat their diseases. This includes all central and peripheral nervous systems’, as well as inflammatory, infectious, immunological, and degenerative diseases affecting the cerebral circulation, as well as lesions resulting from nerve damage.
