What does surgery cover?

Surgery is a medical specialty focused on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions and abnormalities that require surgical solutions. In the framework of outpatient care, examinations and minor procedures are performed without the need for hospitalization, allowing patients to return home the same day.

At the surgical clinic, services may include the removal of skin and subcutaneous lesions, examination and treatment of hemorrhoidal complaints, proctoscopic examinations, surgical treatment of ingrown toenails, professional wound care, and follow-up visits. The goal is to ensure accurate diagnosis, safe procedures, and a fast recovery.

When should you see a surgeon?

If you experience symptoms that may indicate a condition requiring surgical treatment, or if your complaints persist and do not improve, it is advisable to consult a surgeon as soon as possible.

Examples include:

  • A palpable lump under the skin or in the abdominal wall
  • Painful, inflamed swelling or abscess
  • A non-healing or oozing wound
  • Pain and inflammation caused by an ingrown toenail
  • Anal discomfort such as pain, bleeding, or itching (possible haemorrhoids)
  • Bleeding during bowel movements
  • A bulge suggestive of a hernia when coughing or straining

If symptoms recur, worsen, or you notice an abnormality of uncertain origin, seeking a specialist examination promptly is recommended. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment help prevent more serious complications.

What surgical procedures are available at MC60?
Haemorrhoid banding

Haemorrhoid banding is an outpatient procedure used to treat internal haemorrhoids. During the treatment, the specialist places a small rubber band around the base of the haemorrhoid, cutting off its blood supply. Within a few days, the haemorrhoid shrinks and falls off. A specialist consultation is required prior to the procedure.

Subcutaneous lesion removal – lipoma, sebaceous gland

Subcutaneous lesions are benign lumps that develop beneath the skin. The most common types are lipomas, which are soft, movable fatty tumours, and sebaceous cysts, which form due to blockage of a sebaceous gland and may become painful if inflamed. Although usually harmless, they can grow or cause aesthetic or physical discomfort. Removal is performed as a minor surgical procedure under local anaesthesia.

Skin lesion removal – face, scalp

This minor surgical procedure involves the removal of benign or suspicious skin lesions from the face or scalp, such as moles, fibromas, or small skin tumours. It is performed under local anaesthesia to relieve symptoms, ensure an aesthetically pleasing result, and allow for histological examination if necessary.

Skin lesion removal – body, limbs (including dressing and first follow-up)

Benign or suspicious skin lesions on the body or limbs – such as moles, fibromas, or cysts—are removed under local anaesthesia. The service includes wound dressing, and a first follow-up visit to monitor healing and help prevent complications.

Minor surgical procedures

Minor surgical procedures are short, simple interventions performed under local anaesthesia without the need for hospitalization. These may include removal of small skin or subcutaneous lesions, excision of cysts or lipomas, treatment of inflamed lesions, and other quick surgical interventions.

Ingrown toenail surgery

During this procedure, the specialist removes the ingrown or inflamed part of the nail under local anaesthesia. The aim is to relieve pain, eliminate inflammation, and reduce the risk of recurrence.

Proctoscopy

Proctoscopy is a specialist examination that allows visualization of the lower section of the rectum using a small tube. The examination helps accurately assess haemorrhoids, inflammation, polyps, or other abnormalities and supports appropriate treatment planning.

At the MC60 surgical clinic, every examination and procedure is tailored to the patient’s individual condition and needs. We place special emphasis on accurate diagnosis, the use of gentle and modern techniques, and careful follow-up care to ensure a safe and swift recovery. Our goal is to provide effective solutions to surgical concerns in a discreet, calm environment with the highest professional standards.
